What happened on Friday morning was a horrific display in which an unconscionable evil was present. Instead of planning for the holidays, you have parents in CT who will be planning for funerals. Following the murders, Lanza went ahead and took his own life. The coward should have done that first! RIP to those poor children, the teacher, and sincere condolences and prayers go out to the afflicted who survived this ordeal as well as their families. May the bastard rot in hell for eternity and serve as air to Satan's burning hot seat. It used to be that a Columbine level tragedy occurred once every five years or so. We have now suffered at least three this year alone. What the fuck is going on America???
Clearly this is a sign that our country has serious societal problems in terms of the mental health of the people who are permitted to carry firearms. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, outside of a law enforcement officer, should be permitted to carry an assault rifle. Surely there is a right to bare arms, but one does not need an assault rifle to protect one's self from an attack. Assault rifles simply should not be obtainable by the general public. Period. A pistol should suffice as a means of protecting yourself against a life threatening attack. Take away the assault rifles.
I would also like to add that this man who committed this heinous crime did not appear to have any criminal history. While it's been said suggested that he may have had Asperger Syndrome, people with such a condition generally do not harm others. Furthermore, he had a mother who loved children and was an educator who had made a fine career out of helping them realize their dreams. As normal as the murderer may have appeared a month or two ago, he wasn't so normal on Friday! Same goes for the movie theater jackass in Aurora. No history of criminal activity. My point is: I think we desperately need to have better judgement, stronger regulations, and perhaps more in-depth psychological screening, in trusting what accounts for "normal" in this country. President Obama has also suggested having debates in Washington regarding gun control in order to put serious gun control measures into legislation.
Yours truly also believes there should probably be at least one armed officer at the entrance of the elementary schools around the country. Regardless of the precautions we take from this day forward, nothing can bring those poor people back to their families who will be celebrating the holidays in the face of their tragic losses.
